Nanotubes can help improve lithium battery

Researchers working at Rice University, have found a way to improve lithium batteries, which are currently the main sources of power wireless devices.

The basic idea of development is to use arrays of coaxial structures formed by carbon dioxide nanotubes and, as a material for the manufacture of electrodes.

Nanotubes are characterized by high conductivity and ability to «absorb» lithium. Metal oxide provides a high capacity and good insulation. As a result, according to scientists, the number of charge-discharge cycles, which can withstand the battery is substantially increased.

While this is a conceptual design, which the researchers are moving to experiments with a coaxial structure to find that their configuration, which provides the best performance. The diagram shows the process of forming an array of coaxial structures on a gold film using a template of the aluminum oxide.

According to researchers, found the approach to be effective and other sources of food, for example, in fuel cells.

NVIDIA plans to release «green» card GeForce GTS 240 & 9800 GT with a view to improving competitiveness

Fashion and sometimes need to meet stringent requirements for the green products referred not only to the automotive industry - manufacturers of computer components even more trying to make energy efficiency green products.

Do NVIDIA, as you know, already have a GeForce 9600 GT Green, on the basis of which some manufacturers have already announced or provided ready boosters.

According to the source, NVIDIA is also planning to produce and green GeForce 9800 GT, which is already next month. These maps will be slowed to 50 MHz video processor - its frequency will be reduced from the standard 600 to 550 MHz and supply voltage, respectively, will be reduced. Suffer from the green and other blocks - Shader processors frequency drops from 1500 to 1375 MHz.

Another step towards a «green» and improve sales conversion of paper will be GeForce 9800 GT. Produced in April will be renamed to GeForce GTS 240. It is expected that such a new product will be sold cheaply - cards based on it will cost is not the current $ 120, and approximately $ 100.

Such a strategy should help to keep the buyer and to compete more effectively in the market of 3D-adapter with the competition in the face of Radeon HD 4830.
