The basic idea of development is to use arrays of coaxial structures formed by carbon dioxide nanotubes and, as a material for the manufacture of electrodes.
Nanotubes are characterized by high conductivity and ability to «absorb» lithium. Metal oxide provides a high capacity and good insulation. As a result, according to scientists, the number of charge-discharge cycles, which can withstand the battery is substantially increased.
While this is a conceptual design, which the researchers are moving to experiments with a coaxial structure to find that their configuration, which provides the best performance. The diagram shows the process of forming an array of coaxial structures on a gold film using a template of the aluminum oxide.
According to researchers, found the approach to be effective and other sources of food, for example, in fuel cells.
